Anastasia Kim
Europe Studies Fellow
Anastasia is a junior at Carnegie Mellon University majoring in Economics and Politics, with a minor in Mathematical Sciences. Her academic interests center on political economy, conflict, and information environments, with particular attention to how institutions, incentives, and rhetoric shape behavior under authoritarianism and conflict.
She is currently participating in Carnegie Mellon’s Washington Semester Program in Washington, D.C., where she also serves as a research intern at the Institute of World Politics. Her research experience includes work on democratic backsliding in post-Soviet states and on propaganda and political rhetoric during wartime.
In addition to her research, she has served as a teaching assistant across multiple courses and is co-chair of Carnegie Mellon’s Heterodox Academy campus community, where she helps facilitate dialogue across political divides and promotes open inquiry and constructive engagement.
