Emerging Leaders Program (Washington, D.C.)
Spring 2026 Cohort
Babel Institute is accepting applications for the Spring 2026 cohort of the Emerging Leaders Program in Washington, D.C. The program will select nine (9) high school students from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area to participate in a three-month hybrid (in-person and virtual) mentorship and leadership development program at no cost to students.
The Emerging Leaders Program is designed to support students in their preparation for college, strengthen their writing and public speaking skills, and introduce them to public policy, global affairs, and civic leadership through mentorship and program activities.
Program Components
Participants will take part in:
Masterclasses focused on college preparedness, writing, public speaking, leadership, and civic engagement
Mentorship Workshops and Panels with experienced mentors, including graduates and current students from highly selective colleges and universities across the United States
Collaborative Projects centered on public policy and global issues
The program culminates in a Model United Nations Competition. The winning team will be awarded a $1,500 project grant to support a school- or community-based initiative.
All students who successfully complete the program will be inducted into the Babel Alumni Network, gaining access to continued mentorship, programming, and future opportunities.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Selected applicants will be invited to participate in a virtual interview
