Ariana Paydo
Europe Studies Fellow
Ariana Paydo is a junior at the University of Maryland pursuing a dual degree in Russian Language and Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. Her academic interests focus on Eastern European politics, particularly the historical and contemporary power struggles across the region.
During a study abroad program in Riga, Latvia, Ariana studied Russian, completed intensive language coursework, and explored the historical impact of the Soviet Union on the Baltic states. Through this experience, she gained firsthand insight into how Soviet history continues to shape politics and society in the region.
She has policy research experience through past internships, where she conducted research on legislative initiatives and congressional hearings related to veterans’ welfare, military personnel, and military retirees.
In her spare time, Ariana enjoys hiking, climbing, and snowboarding.
