Babel Institute is an independent, nonpartisan public policy think tank dedicated to advancing practical policy solutions to the political, economic, and social challenges facing young people around the world. Our Regional Studies Program, which covers the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Africa, conducts research and analysis on policy issues affecting youth in their respective regions.
Position Overview
Join Babel Institute’s Editorial team this summer to support the review, editing, and publication of written outputs across our regional programs.
Editors will review drafts, provide editorial feedback, and help prepare pieces for publication. The role is designed for individuals with strong writing, editing, and communication skills who can help improve the clarity, structure, and overall quality of submitted work.
Editors will work with pieces submitted by fellows, scholars, and contributors across Babel Institute’s regional programs.
Responsibilities
Copyedit and proofread articles, op-eds, essays, and policy briefs before publication
Fact-check drafts and verify names, dates, quotations, and other factual references
Review submissions for compliance with the think tank’s editorial standards
Provide editorial feedback and recommend revisions on draft submissions
Prepare edited drafts for publication
Qualifications
Current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at an accredited U.S. college or university
GPA of 3.4 or higher preferred
Strong writing and editing skills
Strong attention to detail
Prior experience in editing, publishing, or journalism is preferred but not required
Compensation
Editors will receive a fixed stipend of $150 per month for the duration of the term. Additional stipend support may be provided if more funding becomes available. This is not an hourly wage position.
Time Commitment
Editors should expect to dedicate approximately 3 to 5 hours per week to editing assigned pieces. Work is completed on a flexible schedule, with deadlines set based on the publication timeline.
