Efrata Eshetu
Africa Studies Fellow
Efrata Eshetu is a third-year undergraduate student at Middlebury College, where she majors in International Politics and Economics and minors in Global Health. Her academic interests center on African migration, women’s rights, and the intersection of religion and policymaking across the continent.
As a Rohatyn Global Fellow, she is co-authoring an article that examines the influence of religious authority on policymaking in The Gambia and Somalia, with a focus on female genital mutilation.
Efrata hopes to pursue a career in international development and advocacy, with an emphasis on advancing gender equity and supporting African migrant communities.
