About Babel Institute

Babel Institute is an independent, nonpartisan public policy think tank dedicated to advancing practical policy solutions to the political, economic, and social challenges facing young people around the world. Our regional studies program, which cover the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Africa, conduct research and analysis on key policy issues affecting the youth in their respective regions.

As we move closer to our January 2026 launch date, we are working to strengthen our outreach, partnerships, and public-facing engagement. The External Affairs Intern will support this work by assisting with outreach efforts, communications coordination, and engagement with external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with outreach to partner organizations, schools, community groups, and youth-focused programs.

  • Help draft emails, outreach messages, and informational materials for partner engagement.

  • Track communications, responses, and follow-ups with external contacts.

  • Support the planning and coordination of virtual or in-person events, including speaker series, informational sessions, and program briefings.

  • Conduct basic research on potential partners, community institutions, and youth-serving organizations.

  • Assist in maintaining organized records of partnerships, contact lists, and outreach activities.

  • Coordinate with program staff and directors to support external engagement needs across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at an accredited U.S. college or university.

  • Strong writing and communication skills.

  • Prior experience in outreach, communications, community engagement, or external relations is preferred.

  • Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Interest in public policy, global affairs, education, or social impact is a plus.

Compensation

This internship is compensated through a stipend valued at two thousand four hundred dollars ($2,400), which is equivalent to approximately twenty dollars ($20) per hour based on the expected workload for the entire spring 2026 internship. The final stipend payment schedule will be determined in consultation with the selected candidate. This is not an hourly wage position.

Time Commitment

The expected time commitment for this internship is approximately 8 to 10 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible and can be arranged to accommodate academic commitments.
