About Babel Institute
Babel Institute is an independent, nonpartisan public policy think tank dedicated to advancing practical policy solutions to the political, economic, and social challenges facing young people around the world. Our Regional Studies Program, which covers the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Africa, conducts research and analysis on key policy issues affecting youth in their respective regions.
Position Overview
Join our Policy team this summer to take part in research, policy analysis, and writing at a growing youth-focused think tank.
The Policy Intern will take part in the think tank’s research and publication efforts through the Regional Studies Program. The role is designed as a learning experience centered on policy analysis and writing.
Interns will engage with public policy issues affecting youth across regions, develop policy analysis, and take part in discussions alongside our Regional Studies Program fellows and Babel Scholars in Africa
Responsibilities
Conduct background research on public policy issues affecting youth
Draft and revise policy briefs, articles, essays, and op-eds
Participate in weekly program meetings and discussions
Contribute ideas for research topics and publications
Contribute to ongoing research within the assigned regional program
Qualifications
Current undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at an accredited U.S. college or university
A GPA of 3.5 or higher is preferred
Strong writing skills and ability to present ideas clearly
Interest in public policy, government, or global affairs
Able to work independently and meet agreed timelines
Willing to revise work based on feedback
Compensation
Interns will receive a fixed stipend of $3,000 for the summer term, paid in installments. This is not an hourly wage position.
Time Commitment
Interns should expect to dedicate approximately 15 to 20 hours per week to the internship. Work is completed on a flexible schedule outside of the weekly meeting.
